SAQA | Somebody Told Me
Open House: July 12th, 2026 (Sunday)
12:00 PM - 4:00 PM

This exhibit will be up from June 30th, 2026 - August 29th, 2026

Studio Art Quilt Associates, Inc. (SAQA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the art quilt through education, exhibitions, professional development, documentation, and publications. SAQA defines an art quilt as "a creative visual work that is layered and stitched or that references this form of stitched layered structure."

What began in 1989 with 50 artists has grown into a global community of more than 4,000 members - artists, teachers, collectors, gallerists, museum  professionals, and supporters. Thanks to dedicated volunteers and staff, SAQA continues to be dynamic and innovative leader in the textile arts. More information can be found at saqa.com

SAQA Oregon is one of the organization's many active regional chapters. With over 250 members across the state, we offer monthly in-person meetings in three locations, a biennial regional conference, and a wide variety of exhibition opportunities for textile artists.

Show Concept
Communication is fundamental to human experience. It fuels our interactions, expresses our emotions, and builds relationships. We are shaped by all we have seen, done, and heard —whether it is from a revered source, the lyrics of a song, a gentle friend, or the whisper of gossip. These messages become part of us, influencing our thoughts and our art.

This exhibition features SAQA Oregon artists exploring the power of verbal communication through textile art. Each quilt is both an object and a voice, sharing personal stories, common experiences, and universal truths. Together, the works encourage viewers to think about the words that have shaped their lives and the ways we communicate with the world around us.
